The Toonerville Trail Turkey Trot 5K takes place Thursday, November 28, 2024 at 9 a.m. The event starts and finishes at the Toonerville Trail trailhead at 280 Clinton St, Springfield, VT. The course is a mostly flat 5K out-and-back along the Black River.
Proceeds will benefit Springfield Food Bank, Weathersfield Food Shelf, and Springfield High School Cross Country.
We will be having a food drive with canned/non-perishable food items to split between the Springfield Food Bank and Weathersfield Food Shelf. For each food item you bring, you will receive one ticket for a drawing to win a beautiful, fully compostable wreath made by the Weathersfield Garden Club!

Post-Run: We will have water, Nuun electrolyte drink, and some light snacks – just enough to hold you over until you get home and enjoy a feast. Plus, you’ll earn a pair of super cool Turkey Trot finishers socks!

Parking: There is plenty of room in the parking lot at the trailhead, located between Image Tek Labels and United Construction & Forestry. We encourage carpooling.
Refunds: No refunds, transfers to other runners, or transfers to other years.
Weather: It’s Thanksgiving in Vermont. It’s likely going to be chilly, and maybe even snowy and icy. Dress appropriately (i.e., your best Turkey hat).
Music / Strollers / Dogs: Music players are allowed, but please run with only one earbud in, be aware of other runners and traffic (there is a short road section near the turn-around), and use general caution. Strollers are allowed. Well-behaved short-leashed dogs, preferably dressed as turkeys, are allowed.
If you’re unable to Trot in-person but still want to get your Trot-on and make a donation to Springfield Food Bank, Weathersfield Food Shelf, and the Cross Country team, then register for our Virtual Trot for $10. We’ll make sure your donation gets to them and if you send us your result, we’ll post your time in our Results section.
